Baseball Game Preview: Minarets Mustangs vs. Fowler Redcats

The Minarets Mustangs will head out to face off against the Fowler Redcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Minarets took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Caruthers, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Minarets narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Caruthers 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Minarets saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaydon VonWagner, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. VonWagner also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Fowler came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Badgers an 8-0 shutout. The Redcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by six runs or more this season.

Fowler's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Minarets, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Minarets suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Fowler in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Minarets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
