Softball Recap: Suncoast's Run of Three Straight Wins Now Over

After flying high against Glades Central last Monday, Suncoast came back down to earth. The Chargers took a 13-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Olympic Heights Lions on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-8 back in March.

Marli Johnson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jenesis Spence, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The loss snapped Suncoast's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-7 record. As for Olympic Heights, their record is now 8-10.

Coming up, Suncoast will be playing in front of their home fans against Clewiston at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.19 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Olympic Heights, they will head out to square off against Atlantic Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions are facing the Sharks at the right time seeing as the Sharks are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
