Baseball Recap: Garfield's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

If Garfield was feeling good fresh off their 38-1 takedown of Rainier Beach on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ingraham Rams on Monday. Bulldogs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Rams since on Monday.

Burke Lowe was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah King, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

With the loss, Garfield broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-8. As for Ingraham, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That somehow still isn't as good as their 13-4 record this season.

Garfield and Ingraham should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings. The Bulldogs will square off against Franklin at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (103 vs. 215). Meanwhile, Ingraham (ranked 38th) will meet Cleveland (ranked 258th) at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
