Baseball Recap: Firestone Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

Firestone won against Springfield on Friday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Falcons didn't even let the Buchtel Griffins on the board, marking the Falcons' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won seven games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Noah Liming and Malcolm Bufford did most of the damage at the plate: Liming went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Bufford went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Bufford's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Haneef Abdul-Mujib, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Firestone always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Firestone is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Buchtel, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Firestone will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Griffins: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
