Baseball Recap: North Putnam Triumphs

North Putnam's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the Fountain Central Mustangs 7-6. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won six in a row.

North Putnam got a great performance from Jackson Andrews as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched. Andrews is becoming a predictor of the Cougars' success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 6-9 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Griffen Starr was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for North Putnam: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kellen Windmiller, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

North Putnam's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Fountain Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That lines up perfectly with their 5-15 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Putnam will challenge Indian Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fountain Central, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Parke Heritage at 11:00 a.m.
