Softball Recap: Sam Rayburn Takes a Loss

Sam Rayburn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Pasadena Memorial Mavericks, falling 19-8. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 5, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Makayla Flowers and Aleah Garza stepped up to the plate in a big way. Flowers went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and one double, while Garza went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run was Flowers' first of the season. Hazel Hernandez was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Sam Rayburn's loss dropped their record down to 4-21. As for Pasadena Memorial, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sam Rayburn will head out to square off against Shadow Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pasadena Memorial, they will challenge Alvin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Yellowjackets have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
