Basketball Game Preview: Eno River Academy Bobcats vs. Perquimans Pirates

The Eno River Academy Bobcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Perquimans Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eno River Academy has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while Perquimans will come in with seven straight wins.

Last Monday, Eno River Academy came up short against Roxboro Community and fell 45-32. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 518th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 187th).

Despite their loss, Eno River Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Vivienne Matthews, who posted 13 points and five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Leiden Schofield, who put up six points and six assists.

Even though they lost, Eno River Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Perquimans meant business on Tuesday, getting buckets from all over the court against a Red Barons squad that has allowed just 29.75 points per contest. Perquimans skirted past Gates County 56-54.

Eno River Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Perquimans, their victory bumped their record up to 24-2.
