Softball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends South Williamsport's Winning Streak

South Williamsport dropped their record down to 18-6 on Thursday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell 8-3 to the Neshannock Lancers. The Mountaineers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lancers from their previous meeting back in June of 2024.

As for Neshannock, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 26-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games.

For Neshannock's part, Addy Frye was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Frye has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.

In other batting news, Gabby Quinn was excellent, going 1-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brenna Frengel, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

As of now, neither South Williamsport nor Neshannock have any future games scheduled.
