Softball Game Preview: Greenville H Hurricanes vs. Spartanburg Christian Academy Warriors

The Greenville H Hurricanes are taking a road trip to square off against the Spartanburg Christian Academy Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Greenville H blew Brashier Middle College Charter out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Brashier Middle College Charter got their revenge. The Hurricanes fell just short of the Bengal by a score of 10-8.

Meanwhile, Spartanburg Christian Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four last Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Hawks. Considering the Warriors have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Elizabeth Thompson and Autumn Borla were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Thompson didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Meanwhile, Borla pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Thompson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Thompson went 1-for-5 with four runs and two stolen bases, while Borla went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Thompson a new career-high.

In other batting news, McKenna Gresham was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and one double. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Reagan Seay was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Spartanburg Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.

Spartanburg Christian Academy's record now sits at 9-1. As for Greenville H, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
