Soccer Game Preview: Mount Vernon vs. Edmonds-Woodway

The Mount Vernon Bulldogs will take on the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mount Vernon is headed into the game having not lost since March 29 and will look to keep things rolling. They never let Mt. Baker get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory last Thursday. Given Mount Vernon's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Mt. Baker are ranked 258th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Edmonds-Woodway had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Seagulls as they made off with a 3-0 win. Three seems to be a good number for Edmonds-Woodway as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Mount Vernon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those eight matches. As for Edmonds-Woodway, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5-2.
