Montabella and Vestaburg are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will host the Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Montabella has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Montabella is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Carson City-Crystal on Monday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 12-1. The Mustangs have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Montabella saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Kauffman, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was Katelyn Pifer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Vestaburg put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Coleman. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Wolverines have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Sasha Page spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.

Vestaburg's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for Montabella, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
