Basketball Game Preview: Castle View Sabercats vs. Grandview Wolves + How To Watch

The Castle View Sabercats will take on the Grandview Wolves in a holiday battle at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Castle View has given up an average of 59 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Castle View saw some tournament action last Saturday. They were beaten by Cherry Creek 67-40. The Sabercats have struggled against the Bruins recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Bubba Wyatt, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Javier Hernandez, who put up ten points.

Meanwhile, Grandview ended up a good deal behind Chaparral on Saturday and lost 64-50. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Wolverines are ranked second).

Despite the loss, Grandview saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ismael Kabongo went 5-for-7 to rack up 13 points along with five assists and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for Kabongo. Charlie Atkinson was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Grandview's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Castle View, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Castle View has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Grandview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Castle View ended up a good deal behind Grandview in their previous matchup back in February, losing 70-53. Can the Sabercats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
