After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lakewood, Compton was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Cabrillo Jaguars 48-27. Considering the Tarbabes have won three matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Trevon Fair and Micah Hawkins. Fair rushed for 198 yards and one TD on only ten carries while Hawkins rushed for 117 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries.
Compton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 338 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Compton, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Hawkins, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Compton's win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3. As for Cabrillo, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Coincidentally, Compton and Cabrillo will both be playing Woodrow Wilson the next time they take the field. The Tarbabes will head out to face the Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Jaguars will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
