Capital and Boise are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. Capital will welcome Boise at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Capital managed to slip by Twin Falls the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Capital lost 14-5 to Twin Falls on Saturday. Golden Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bruins since on Saturday.
Caden Werner was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had over his last 13 games. Another player making a difference was Cooper Myers, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Boise's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Borah by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Brave have suffered since April 12, 2024.
Aidric Bird spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Boise saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Calder Hansen, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Boise's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Capital, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Capital has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Boise struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.9 strikeouts.
