Softball Recap: Blue Valley Rams vs. Onaga Buffaloes
Blue Valley extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-4 in the process. They lost 20-5 to the Onaga Buffaloes. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by exactly 15 runs.
Kelbi Dettmer was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Bryleigh Brockman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Onaga, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Onaga's side, Bridgett Campbell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Onaga got a massive performance out of Willow Hochstedler, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave Hochstedler a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadyn Haskin, who went 2-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Onaga beat Blue Valley by a score of 16-0 later that day.
