Volleyball Recap: Smithville's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Smithville lost against Dalton on September 2nd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Smithies fell 3-1 to the Bulldogs. While the Smithies didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 25-13 in the first set.

Smithville started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 13-25, 26-24, 25-12, 25-21.

Hayden Steiner paced Smithville's offense, picking up 18 kills. Steiner got some help from Leah Keib and her 35 assists. Rebekah Keib and Morgan Shutt kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Chloe Ruehling had a dynamite game For Dalton., getting 31 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Ruehling has posted since back in October of 2024.

Smithville's loss ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Dalton, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Smithville has already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Triway on the 27th. As for Dalton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Loudonville on the 27th.
