Football Game Preview: Saginaw Rough Riders vs. North Side Steers

The Saginaw Rough Riders will head out to face off against the North Side Steers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Saginaw knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully North Side likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, Saginaw had just enough and edged out Paschal 41-38. That's two games straight that the Rough Riders have won by exactly three points.

Saginaw's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elijah Irvin, who rushed for 78 yards and one touchdown. Jahirim Skinner made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four contest, North Side brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They blew past Polytechnic, posting a 54-26 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Steers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

North Side's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Saginaw, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Saginaw beat North Side 29-18 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Steers' Deandre Montgomery, who rushed for 146 yards and one score.
