Softball Game Preview: West Carroll Thunder vs. River Ridge/Scales Mound Wildcats

For the second straight game, West Carroll will face off against River Ridge/Scales Mound. The Thunder will challenge the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Carroll has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 19.

On Tuesday, West Carroll didn't have quite enough to beat River Ridge/Scales Mound and fell 3-2.

For River Ridge/Scales Mound's part, Elizabeth Rife spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Rife has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sarah Winter, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Amber Schlarmann was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

West Carroll's loss dropped their record down to 5-19. As for River Ridge/Scales Mound, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 10-14 record.
