Basketball Game Preview: Peninsula Seahawks vs. Central Kitsap Cougars

Peninsula has gone 10-0 against Central Kitsap recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Peninsula Seahawks will venture away from home to face off against the Central Kitsap Cougars at 7:15 p.m. Central Kitsap took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Peninsula, who comes in off a win.

Peninsula took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 47-36 victory over Gig Harbor.

It was another big night for Grace Richardson, who dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 17 rebounds, and 13 assists. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last seven games she's played. Maci Miller was another key player, putting up 17 points and three steals.

Peninsula smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Central Kitsap took a blow against North Thurston on Wednesday, falling 74-25. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Rams are ranked 32nd).

Central Kitsap's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Peninsula, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Peninsula was able to grind out a solid win over Central Kitsap in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 49-36. Does Peninsula have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central Kitsap turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
