Softball Recap: Shelby County's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

After low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Shelby County brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They never let the Cornerstone Christian Academy Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Friday. Considering the Rockets' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

The team relied heavily on Kaylee Cox, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane Bennington, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

The win snapped Shelby County's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-6 record. As for Cornerstone Christian Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, Shelby County will take on Owen County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cornerstone Christian Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Presentation at 5:30 p.m. on May 7.
