Recap: West Lincoln Rebels vs. East Burke Cavaliers
After a string of three wins, the West Lincoln Rebels's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were beaten by East Burke 78-32. West Lincoln was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-23.
West Lincoln's loss came despite strong showings from Carolina Robinson and Quinlyn Avery. Robinson scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Avery scored six points along with five rebounds. Robinson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Braelyn Stilwell continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for East Burke, shooting 4-for-7 from deep and almost dropping a triple-double on 30 points, nine assists, and 11 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stilwell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kara Brinkley, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and four steals.
West Lincoln's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-10. As for East Burke, they pushed their record up to 15-0 with that victory, which was their 20th straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Lincoln's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Lincolnton at 6:15 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Lincolnton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for East Burke, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Caldwell at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Caldwell is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
