Basketball Recap: Argyle Gets the Win

Argyle came tearing into Monday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they left with even more momentum. They pulled ahead with a 73-72 photo finish over the Monticello Ponies. Given the Orioles' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while the Ponies are ranked 398th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Argyle pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Monticello, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Argyle will face off against Pecatonica at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Pecatonica knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Argyle likes a good challenge. Monticello has already played their next game (against Orangeville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
