Cherry Creek strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They breezed past the Cherokee Trail Cougars to the tune of 49-12. With the Bruins ahead 42-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

It was another big night for Brady Vodicka, who threw for 270 yards and five touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 45 yards. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Cherry Creek's leading receiver Maxwell Lovett was Vodicka's top target yet again, picking up 144 receiving yards and one TD.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cherry Creek's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Tate Matthews, William Johnson, and Matias Salcedo, who each picked up one sack apiece. Damarius Lavender was another major factor on D, making 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Evan Smith and Bryson Peterson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Smith picked up 123 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while Peterson threw for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Cherry Creek's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Cherokee Trail, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Cherry Creek has already played their next game, a 56-0 victory against Arapahoe on the 9th. As for Cherokee Trail, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 27-14 defeat against Eaglecrest on the 10th.
