If Old Lyme beats Coginchaug Regional with 63 points on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Old Lyme beat Hartford Public on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 63-47. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Owls are ranked 129th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Coginchaug Regional rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They walked away with a 65-56 win over the Crusaders.

Old Lyme's victory bumped their record up to 21-3. As for Coginchaug Regional, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.
