Softball Recap: Washington County Takes a Loss

Washington County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 23-8 to the Campbellsville Eagles. The Commanders were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.

Emma Cocanougher led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Marlee Tennill, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Washington County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .542. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Washington County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Campbellsville, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Washington County will venture away from home to challenge Taylor County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Taylor County's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Washington County's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Campbellsville, they are taking a road trip to square off against Casey County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
