Soccer Game Preview: Mercedes vs. Donna North

Mercedes hasn't had much luck against Donna North recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mercedes Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Donna North Chiefs at 7:30 p.m.

Mercedes is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Wednesday. They lost 5-0 to Harlingen South.

Meanwhile, Donna North entered their tilt with Porter on Wednesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Their defense stepped up to hand the Cowboys a 2-0 shutout. Given the Chiefs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Cowboys are ranked 382nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Donna North's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Mercedes, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Mercedes came up short against Donna North in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Mercedes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
