Football Recap: Blue Valley West Jaguars vs. St. James Academy Thunder
On Friday, Blue Valley West faced St. James Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Blue Valley West Jaguars snuck past the St. James Academy Thunder with a 27-21 victory. The win was nothing new for the Jaguars as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Blue Valley West had a senior duo take command as Tate Nagy threw for 196 yards and a touchdown while completing 72.7% of his passes and Wayne Carter gained 106 total yards and a touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Blue Valley West's defense and their three sacks. Jack Sells was especially locked on to St. James Academy's QB and sacked him twice. Sells also set a new season high mark in total tackles with ten.
Parker Chase and Francis Menghini certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Chase picked up 41 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Menghini threw for 121 yards and three touchdowns.
Blue Valley West pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for St. James Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
