University Lab and Ascension Catholic are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Cubs will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (University Lab 3.3, Ascension Catholic 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

University Lab is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Catholic just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cubs, who until this game were averaging 3.26 runs allowed.

University Lab got a good showing from Grant Sunstrom, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Shepard Gammon was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Lane Mixon was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Ascension Catholic got themselves on the board against East Iberville on Friday, but East Iberville never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Tigers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Ascension Catholic's win bumped their record up to 19-8. As for University Lab, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 19-8.
