Baseball Recap: Franklin Patriots vs. Stevenson Spartans
Franklin dropped to 8-3 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 7-1 to the Stevenson Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on Monday.
As for Stevenson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 16-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
For Stevenson's part, Cameron McPherson got the start for Stevenson and what a start it was: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. McPherson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Gage Henriksen was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Andrew Grzanowski, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Coming up, Franklin will head out on the road to square off against Canton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Stevenson, they will square off against Walled Lake Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
