Soccer Game Preview: Jefferson vs. Kennedy

Jefferson hasn't had much luck against Kennedy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Hawks will challenge the Cougars at 7:05 p.m. Jefferson has given up an average of 3.5 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Jefferson fell victim to Iowa City and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 7-0 to the Little Hawks. While losing is never fun, Jefferson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa soccer rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Iowa City are ranked 33rd).

Meanwhile, Kennedy waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Warriors get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. Kennedy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by three goals or more this season.

Kennedy pushed their record up to 8-4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those three games. As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Jefferson might still be hurting after the 6-3 loss they got from Kennedy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
