St. Martin is 1-9 against Gulfport since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Yellow Jackets will square off against the Admirals at 7:00 p.m. St. Martin's defense has only allowed 14.7 points per game this season, so Gulfport's offense will have their work cut out for them.
St. Martin hadn't beaten Biloxi on the road since October 12, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Yellow Jackets secured a 28-24 W over the Indians.
It was another big night for Seth Crockett, who rushed for 86 yards and three scores, and also threw for 129 yards and one TD while completing 80% of his passes. Kevin Marshall was Crockett's top target, picking up 52 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 33 yards.
Meanwhile, Gulfport faced Ocean Springs in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Admirals walked away with a 41-28 win over the Greyhounds. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Admirals.
St. Martin better keep an eye on Cooper Crosby. He was instrumental in Gulfport's win, rushing for 160 yards and five TDs, while also picking up 42 receiving yards. Thanks to that big game, Crosby is now up to 12 rushing touchdowns on the season. Mylan Stubbs also helped out with an impressive 92 receiving yards.
Gulfport didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Ocean Springs to a completion percentage of just 47.8%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Tyrell Seals and Pierre Felder, who each logged two passes deflected. Gulfport wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 72.2%.
Gulfport's defense didn't let Chalmers Berglind, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Ocean Springs' QB won't forget Javon Anderson anytime soon given he sacked him 2.5 times. Gulfport received some extra help from Anderson, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Gulfport now has a winning record of 3-2. As for St. Martin, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. St. Martin has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 192.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Gulfport struggles in that department as they've been averaging 183.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
St. Martin was taken down by Gulfport 42-7 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Yellow Jackets were down 28-7.
