Basketball Recap: Wharton Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Wharton couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a hard 59-42 fall against the Wimberley Texans on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 537th, while the Texans are ranked 246th).

When it comes to explaining why Wharton lost, don't look at Jameir Hearne-Robinson. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Hearne-Robinson has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Keilon Jackson was another key player, putting up six points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Even though they lost, Wharton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

Wharton's loss dropped their record down to 26-12. As for Wimberley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 27-9.

As of now, neither Wharton nor Wimberley have any future games scheduled.
