Soccer Game Preview: Carter vs. Austin-East

The Carter Green Hornets will face off against the Austin-East Roadrunners at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Carter will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more goals each contest than the last.

Carter's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Oliver Springs 9-0. Carter might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by three goals or more this season.

They hit Oliver Springs with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Julian Hernandez-Garcia (4), Carson Lewis (2), Cayden Adkins (2), and Ashby Scott.

Meanwhile, Austin-East fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Cocke County on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Fighting Cocks by a score of 1-0. Austin-East haven't had much luck with Cocke County recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Carter pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those three games. As for Austin-East, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Carter came out on top in a nail-biter against Austin-East when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Green Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Roadrunners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
