Baseball Recap: D'Iberville Comes Up Short

D'Iberville fell victim to Mooreville and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Mooreville Troopers, falling 7-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

D'Iberville got a good showing from Kaden Allen, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Allen is becoming a predictor of D'Iberville's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, D'Iberville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaylen Johnson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

D'Iberville has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. Mooreville's victory bumped their record up to 8-3.

Coming up, D'Iberville will welcome Oak Forest Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mooreville, they will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Germantown at 10:00 a.m. Mooreville's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Germantown's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
