Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Rai'shawn Elmore and Keenan Sullivan Lead Porter Ridge to Victory

Porter Ridge lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Cuthbertson, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. The Pirates put the hurt on the Cavaliers with a sharp 42-17 win on Friday. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 106th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

A big part of Porter Ridge's victory came down to the chemistry between Keenan Sullivan and his top target Rai'Shawn Elmore. Sullivan rushed for 39 yards and a pair of TDs while Elmore gained 140 total yards and a touchdown. That's the most rushing yards Sullivan has posted since back in August of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Myers, who picked up 35 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Porter Ridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 273 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Austin Davis and Mason Iovino certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Davis threw for 183 yards and one TD while completing 72.2% of his passes, while Iovino gained 159 total yards. Iovino is also crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 110 every time he's taken the field this season.

Porter Ridge's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-1. As for Cuthbertson, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Porter Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 14-13 loss against Charlotte Catholic on the 26th. As for Cuthbertson, they have also already played their next contest, a 23-8 victory against Piedmont on the 26th.
