Soccer Game Preview: Carthage vs. Henderson

Carthage hasn't had much luck against Henderson recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Carthage Bulldogs will host the Henderson Lions at 6:45 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Things were looking good for Carthage after they put the first points on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Sabine who was credited with the win. Sabine got it done in the shootout by posting seven goals to Carthage's six. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 603rd, while the Cardinals are ranked 203rd).

Henderson is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to eight goals two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Kilgore on Friday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost seven in a row.

Carthage's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Henderson, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
