Softball Recap: Bellevue West Thunderbirds vs. Burke Bulldogs
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bellevue East, Bellevue West was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They never let the Burke Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The Thunderbirds haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Grace Veik was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Veik was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last nine matchups.
In other batting news, Bellevue West got a massive performance out of Aubrey Busch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Busch has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaycee Woodard, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Bellevue West hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Bellevue West picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 5-18. As for Burke, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-13.
