Baseball Recap: St. Augustine Takes a Loss

St. Augustine came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 8-2 to the Middleburg Broncos. The Yellow Jackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Broncos apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

St. Augustine saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josiah Vargas, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

St. Augustine's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Middleburg, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

St. Augustine does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Middleburg, they will take on Fleming Island at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Broncos 3.3, the Golden Eagles 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
