Softball Recap: Ridge Point Has No Trouble Against Fort Bend Hightower

Ridge Point won the last time they faced Fort Bend Hightower and things went their way on Friday too. Ridge Point put the hurt on Fort Bend Hightower with a sharp 18-2 victory. Considering the Panthers have won ten matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Maliyah Lewis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Lewis was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.

In other batting news, Ridge Point let Braelyn Daniels and Alysa Perez run wild. Daniels went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI, while Perez went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most hits Perez has posted since back in April of 2024. Kate Pierson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Ridge Point hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Bend Hightower struck out 11 times.

Ridge Point's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Bend Hightower, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-2-2.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Ridge Point Panthers take on Lake Creek Lions at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday. Lake Creek will roll in looking for their 18th straight win, something Ridge Point surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fort Bend Hightower, they will head out on the road to challenge Fort Bend Elkins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
