Softball Recap: Mcqueen Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

McQueen dropped their record down to 15-12 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carson Senators. The Lancers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Senators earlier this season, when they won 6-3.

Lilly Fanene and Anna Wangberg did some serious damage despite the final result: Fanene went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base, while Wangberg went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Hawkins, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Carson, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the contest before.

On Carson's side, Madison Blanchard-Salazar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Carson let Sofia Morrison and Cali Stagliano run wild. Morrison went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Stagliano went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Stagliano has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rhys Branham, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McQueen will face off against Douglas at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Carson, they will challenge Reed at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Senators' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
