For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when West and Emporia meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Chargers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The loss continues a trend for the Chargers in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost six in a row.

West may have fallen short, but they were sure consistent: they scored 14 points in every single set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-14.

West's defeat dropped their record down to 11-15-3. As for Emporia, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-12 record this season.

West will welcome Leavenworth at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Emporia, they have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Topeka on the 14th.
