Basketball Recap: Medina Battling Bees vs. McKinley Bulldogs
Medina and McKinley squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Medina had to settle for second. They fell 64-53 to the McKinley Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Battling Bees can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 12th).
Reed Sims Jr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for McKinley, going 8-for-14 en route to 22 points and three steals. Sims Jr is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Anthony Chavers, who made all 5 shots he took for 13 points.
Medina has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season. The win was the fifth in a row for McKinley, bringing their record for this year to 19-5.
