Baseball Recap: Piper Comes Up Short

Piper dropped their record down to 9-7 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 9-2 to the Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Thunderbirds earlier this season, when they won 6-3.

Dylan Eikenbary made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Ross, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Shawnee Heights, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-4. Considering they have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Shawnee Heights' side, Cambren Floberg was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits (and only one walk). Floberg was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Floberg wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Camden Olson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. That RBI was Olson's first of the season. Another was Deacan Pomeroy, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Coming up, Piper will be playing at home against Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shawnee Heights has already played their next contest (against Mill Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
