Soccer Game Preview: Wren vs. Southside

The Wren Hurricanes will challenge the Southside Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Southside will be up against a hot Wren squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Hurricanes' defense stepped up to hand Berea a 4-0 shutout on Wednesday. The matchup was close at halftime, but Wren turned on the heat in the second half with three goals.

Meanwhile, Southside made easy work of Emerald on Monday and carried off a 5-0 victory. Southside might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by three goals or more this season.

Southside is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 34 goals over those six matches. As for Wren, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3-1.

Everything went Wren's way against Southside when the teams last played last Monday, as Wren made off with a 4-1 win. Will the Hurricanes repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
