Volleyball Recap: Olivia Gutierrez Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat West

There's no place like home for St. Mary, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past the West Wolfpack 3-0 on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Rams as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: St. Mary's took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-6, 25-14.

St. Mary's got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Olivia Gutierrez out in front who had seven aces and six digs. Those seven aces gave Gutierrez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Miller, who had five digs and four aces.

St. Mary's victory bumped their record up to 18-11. As for West, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-18.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. St. Mary's is set to square off against their familiar foe Tracy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, West will face off against rival Kimball at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
