Softball Recap: Minersville Takes a Loss

Minersville blew Schuylkill Haven out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Schuylkill Haven got their revenge. The Battlin' Miners fell just short of the Hurricanes by a score of 7-5. The Battlin' Miners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hurricanes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Minersville saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Sterner, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Sara McGrath also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Minersville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Schuylkill Haven, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Minersville will challenge Weatherly at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Weatherly has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.17 runs per game on average), something Minersville will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Schuylkill Haven, they will host Schuylkill Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Hurricanes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
