Football Game Preview: Ansley/Litchfield Spartans vs. Grand Island Lutheran Lightning

The Ansley/Litchfield Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Grand Island Lutheran Lightning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ansley/Litchfield will be strutting in after a victory while Grand Island Lutheran will be coming in after a loss.

Ansley/Litchfield took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 59-0 win over Santee. The Spartans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Ansley/Litchfield, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Owen Cunningham, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Grand Island Lutheran played against Hampton two weeks ago and lost via forfeit.

Ansley/Litchfield's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Grand Island Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything came up roses for Ansley/Litchfield against Grand Island Lutheran in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 63-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
