Preview: Washougal Panthers vs. Woodland Beavers
Washougal has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Woodland Beavers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Washington (Washougal is ranked 255th, while Woodland is ranked 251st).
Washougal pushed their score all the way to 59 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 75-59 fall against Columbia River. Washougal has not had much luck with Columbia River recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite their defeat, Washougal saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Holden Bea, who scored 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Sam Evers, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Woodland's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Hockinson by a score of 54-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Woodland has suffered since December 15, 2023.
Washougal has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Woodland, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
Washougal beat Woodland 49-37 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Washougal since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
