Baseball Recap: Abilene Comes Up Short

Abilene had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-7 to make it five. They came up short against the Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs, falling 16-6. Unfortunately, that's the first time they've come up short against the Monarchs this season, with their most recent loss being a 5-4 defeat on Friday.

As for Thomas More Prep-Marian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average this season.

For Thomas More Prep-Marian's part, Ty Schmeidler was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Schmeidler a new career-high. Logan Baalmann was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Thomas More Prep-Marian beat Abilene by a score of 5-4 later that day.
