North Side is 8-2 against Polytechnic since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Steers will head out on the road to challenge the Parrots at 7:00 p.m. North Side has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
North Side came up short against Paschal on Friday, falling 20-1. The Steers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Polytechnic). They put the hurt on Wyatt with a sharp 34-0 victory on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Angel Montenez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaiah Rodriguez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five runs, and seven RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Jonathan Parga was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Polytechnic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .769. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
North Side's defeat dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Polytechnic, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 7-13-1.
North Side beat Polytechnic 7-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Steers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Parrots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
